Medical Support Assistant (Call Center Agent) is responsible for scheduling appointments, including interpreting and verifying provider orders in accordance with national scheduling guidelines, canceling, re-scheduling patient''s appointments, verifying and updating demographics and insurance information. All incoming calls directed to the Clinical Call Center are screened by the Call Center Agent to determine whether those calls can be appropriately handled by the Agent or if they need to be directed to other team members thus improving responsiveness to Veterans questions and concerns. This program is a clinical and administrative network designed to provide fast responsive help to Veterans seeking care which include but not limited to Primary Care, numerous Specialty Care clinics, Mental Health and CBOCs, assesses the patient needs, practices independent decision-making, coordinates care needs and direct problem resolution as appropriate.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 08:00AM- 04:30PM
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

Experience: Six months of experience of clerical, office or other work that indicates the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position; or
. Education: One year above high school; or
.Experience/Education Combination: Equivalent combination of experience and education are qualifying for entry level for which both education and experience are acceptable.
Grade Determinations:
GS-3 MSA
Experience or Education: None beyond the basic requirements. This is an entry level MSA position. It is expected that MSAs receive guidance from more experienced staff members and require frequent and direct supervision.
GS-4 MSA
Experience or Education: One year of experience in clerical or office work that indicates the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position or two years of education above high school. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and abilities: Ability to meet, communicate and interact with individuals from varying backgrounds and other health care team members in a courteous and helpful manner in order to complete job assignments. Ability to use various types of office automation equipment and software. Ability to set up, organize, and maintain record systems.
GS-5 MSA
Experience or Education. One year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level or 4 years of education above high school.
Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities. Candidates must demonstrate the KSAs As follows:
1.Ability to operate computerized programs and databases in order to enter, modify and retrieve sensitive information/data into or from electronic medical records, scheduling systems and/or reports.
2.Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
3.Ability to make appointments in a clinical setting.
4.Ability to work independently in the accomplishment of a wide variety of duties, including setting priorities and coordinating work.
5.Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with employees at varying grade levels.

Physical Requirements: The majority of work is performed in an office setting, primarily while seated. The position requires some standing, ambulation, bending and carrying of items such as training manuals. In addition, there can be increased stress due to the intensity of a patient/customer complaint or concern.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
