Air Force Procurement Project Manager

The Civilian Acquisition Program Manager within the Air Force is a critical role responsible for overseeing and managing the acquisition of complex systems, equipment, and services for the United States Air Force.
The primary focus of this position is to ensure the successful execution of acquisition programs from initial planning through development, testing, production, and final delivery.
The role requires a deep understanding of acquisition processes, program management principles, and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders to achieve program objectives within budgetary and time constraints.
Key
Responsibilities:
Program Planning and Execution:
Develop and execute comprehensive acquisition plans, outlining program objectives, milestones, resource requirements, and risk mitigation strategies.
Monitor and track program progress, identifying potential issues or delays, and implementing corrective actions to ensure on-time delivery and performance targets are met.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, logisticians, financial analysts, and contract specialists to ensure seamless program execution.
Budget Management:
Manage program budgets, tracking expenditures, and ensuring adherence to financial limitations.
Prepare budget proposals, cost estimates, and funding requests for approval by higher authorities.
Contracting and Procurement:
Collaborate with contracting officers to develop acquisition strategies and contract specifications.
Oversee the procurement process, ensuring compliance with acquisition regulations and guidelines.
Risk Management:
Identify potential risks and develop risk mitigation plans to minimize program disruptions and cost overruns.
Regularly assess program risks and adjust strategies as necessary.
Stakeholder Management:
Engage with internal stakeholders, including senior leadership, subject matter experts, and user groups, to understand their requirements and incorporate feedback into program planning and execution.
Communicate program status, progress, and challenges to stakeholders, providing regular updates on program performance.
Technical Evaluation and Compliance:
Ensure that acquisition programs comply with relevant regulations, policies, and laws governing acquisition processes and standards.
Review technical documentation and provide technical evaluations to support decision-making.
Contract Performance Assessment:
Monitor contractor performance, evaluating deliverables against established criteria and standards.
Enforce contractual requirements and take necessary actions to address performance issues.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (engineering, business administration, or related disciplines).
At least 5-7 years of experience in acquisition program management or related fields.
In-depth knowledge of federal acquisition regulations (FAR) and Department of Defense (DoD) acquisition processes.
Strong understanding of program management principles, including cost, schedule, and performance management.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Ability to analyze complex problems, develop solutions, and make informed decisions.
Top Secret Security clearance required.
