Contract Teacher (Pre-K - Grade 9)

Contract Teacher (Pre-K - Grade 9)The Pike School is seeking a full-time, in-house substitute Teacher (Contract Teacher) for the 2023-2024 school year.
Our Lower School (Pre-K to Gr 4) and Upper School (Gr 5 to 9) grade level teams consist of several teachers who collaboratively design the best possible experience for the students in each grade.
Our Contract Teachers step in when needed to provide instruction and supervision when a teacher or teachers need to be away from their classes and duties.
In addition to daily classroom assignments, Contract Teachers support students' transition from the school day to our Auxiliary programming by helping with morning supervision, afternoon snacks, and supporting our Wednesday programming, our early release day for students.
Because contract teachers work daily at Pike, this team is an integral part of the lives of students and become familiar with the student body as well as the academic program at each grade level, leading to a smooth transition into classrooms on a short-term basis.
Collaboration, flexibility, and effective communication are essential skills for this position, as are an understanding of the developmental needs of grade school aged students, and a joy for working with students and in a school community.
Core
Responsibilities:
Providing coverage in classrooms from Pre-K to Grade 9, including all specialist areas (art, music, Spanish, PE) for planned as well as unplanned teacher absences.
Executing lesson plans as determined by classroom teachers to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students.
Managing transitions of a given class during a school day, ensuring that routines and learning are not disrupted.
Following up with teachers after coverage assignments to communicate any necessary information.
Daily duty coverage (e.
g.
morning dropoff, carline, recess, lunch, supporting Pike Plus from dismissal up to 3:
30pm).
Supervising and leading student activities on Professional Development and Conference days, and participating in all-school special events, as needed.
When not in classrooms providing coverage, supporting faculty with clerical, supervisory, or other tasks as needed.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
