Additionally, our Technology Center for Hemostasis and Blood Gas Reagents is in Orangeburg, NY, and our Technology Center for Whole Blood Hemostasis is in San Diego, CA.
Position
Summary:
Responsible for developing and executing global supplier sourcing and management strategies for a spend in excess of $1 QOM.
The scope of this responsibility is all globally sourced materials used in the manufacture of Werfen products at Bedford as well as those purchased field service or consumable items distributed under the management of this materials group.
Includes the sourcing and supply chain planning for Cuvettes and Rotors consumables at key suppliers in Italy and Spain.
Position has direct reports at Werfen Bedford and in Italy.
Responsibilities Key Accountabilities
Essential Functions:
Responsible for the development for global supply strategies for all commodities:
fabricated and formed metals, molded plastics, tooling/fixtures, printed circuit boards, computer peripherals, etc.
Work strategically, on Werfen's behalf, with executives at Werfen's suppliers regarding business strategy, short/long-term planning, and all other related issues.
Responsible for purchases and/or contracts for materials and services in accordance with company established practices and policies to ensure ethical relationships with suppliers.
Leads process of supplier selection including rationalizing the supplier base and developing suppliers in support of new Werfen products.
Leads in negotiations with suppliers and develops contracts and supply agreements as appropriate to meet the quality, reliability, and cost interest of Werfen.
A thorough understanding of purchasing law, and the requirements of the QSR and relevant ISO standards that govern purchasing activities.
Participates in all internal auditing of the purchasing processes.
Reports on Supplier related metrics at Management Review.
Manages the group Purchasing Support Team (located at Werfen Bedford and Italy) and directs their activity to proactively improving the process capabilities of the suppliers.
Responsible for developing and implementing all processes of supplier performance measurement, purchasing regulatory compliance, auditing, and corrective and preventative actions.
Good understanding of purchased commodities including manufacturing processes, applications, global supply status, price trends, cost drivers and product migration paths.
Leads identification of potential disruption in the supply chain due to changes in supplier's business including their strategic direction, operating results, technical capabilities and overall performance and develops effective plans for mitigation.
Ensures risk is identified and reported on at the monthly Werfen Bedford Sales and Operations Planning meeting.
Leads Supplier consolidation activities during business acquisitions.
Periodically reports to operations management on the status of the major commodity groups.
Participates in strategic planning for the operations group.
Works closely with manufacturing teams to identify requirements and with the responsible buyers to ensure the supply of materials needed to support daily production schedules Budget managed (if applicable):

R & D, Quality, Manufacturing, Logistics, Materials, Human Resources, Legal, Sales, Marketing including all levels of Management and Executive Management within those functions.

BS degree in business or engineering; ISM (NAPM) and or APICS certification preferred.
Minimum of 12 years of Procurement, Supply Chain in and or in combination with Operations leadership experience in a highly regulated industry.
Demonstrated record of year-over-year cost reduction.
Demonstrated skills in developing and maintaining procedures for a highly regulated industry.
Demonstrated capacity building teams and developing Purchasing team talent.
Demonstrated computer literacy, working knowledge of ERP systems.
Working knowledge of supply chain management strategies and concepts.
Certifications in continuous improvement methodologies a plus (6S, lean, etc) International Mobility:
